How to Strap Down Trucks & Heavy Vehicles

Full-size trucks need a different securement approach than small cars. Their weight, suspension travel, and ground clearance all change how you strap them.

Use Axle Straps for Big Trucks

Heavier trucks place too much stress on wheel straps. Axle straps provide a secure connection and allow the suspension to move naturally during transport.

Avoid Bumpers and Tie-Down Hooks

Factory tow hooks and bumpers are not designed for hauling. Always strap directly to the axles or approved frame points only.

Tighten Straps Until the Truck Is Stable

Tighten all straps until the truck cannot shift. Heavy vehicles tend to settle more than cars, so ensure everything is firmly secured.

Use Axle Straps for Oversized Tires

Trucks with wide tires or beadlocks should always be secured using axle straps. Wheel straps may not seat properly on oversized tires.
